Welcome to the Australian Kiteboarding School website and online kiteboarding shop.   Australian Kiteboarding School is a Perth based, premier kitesurfing school offering highest quality kitesurfing lessons on a daily basis.  We take people from no experience and teach all the basics of kiteboarding and power kite flying until you are basically independent. 

The underlying theme in our school is quality.  Our service is the highest quality we can offer.  The equipment and technology is the best we can offer, even the products we sell are only the best quality we can find.  If a product is not the of very high quality, we aren't interested in offering it.  We will not offer cheap and nasty products, there are plenty of other websites selling this kind of thing.  Our pricing is fair for the quality of product we sell, and our service is outstanding.

Our school offers latest model Rental Equipment and we have Perth's only Demo centre on the beach where you can come and try any one of up to 11 different boards and 20+ different kites to see what you really like before you buy.

Once you know what you like, you can purchase from us on the beach or from our new retail truck and take your new kite, board, harness, or any other item home with you there and then.  We also sell complimentary items like wind meters, DVD's, trainer kites, repair kits and books on kitesurfing.  Our online kite shop sells a huge range of power kiting related items ranging from boards, kites, wind meters, bags and trainer kites.  We also have a good range of MBS mountain boards and depowerable Ozone land kites to choose from.  

Kitesurfing and AKS

We are all about kiting, all aspects of kiting, and are excited to be able to share our passion with others.  There is something magic about flying a kite, even the smaller trainer kites.  It's hard to describe, but I feel it has something to do with the power, the smooth movement and colour that appeals to the unconscious mind that relaxes us so much when flying kites, or maybe it's the freedom of silent traction, or the thrill of controlling masses of potential energy.  Whatever it is for you, it can be found in the ensuing pages of this website.

Boards

The common link between all the styles of kitesurfing (wakestyle, big air, speed, racing, wave riding and freeriding) are that they are all done flying big powerful kites.  Pro kiters enjoy flying trainer kites as much as newbies, it's all about the kite.  AKS are all about providing safe access into the sport for people who want a change in their life.  I say this because kite surfing and flying is more than just a sport, it is a way of life, a habit, an outlet from lifes frustrations and stresses and to many, bordering on a religion.

It hits you from the moment you first take control of the kite at the start of the first lesson, an adrenaline rush as you are in control of more power than you have ever felt in your life!  The freedom of shutting out all of lifes distractions to focus on the pleasure of flying a kite for a couple of hours.  The unmistakeable feel of freedom and a connection with the wind and the water, two of the most powerful forces on earth.

The Australian Kiteboarding School has been using accredited IKO and prior to IKO, WSN, Instructors since 2001.  We are a fully accredited IKO training centre meaning we conform to the only internationally accepted kiteboarding safety and teaching system.  We only employ IKO trained instructors and assistants and maintain full public liability insurance and all current beach and water permits.  This means you are trusting your wellbeing to thouroughly trained, professionally certified coaches, not just someone making a "few bucks on the side".  The IKO Logo is an internationally recognized symbol of quality kitesurfing schools.
