As a service business, AKS is nothing without the people who work there. We select only the best people to come and work with us and keep only the ones who have the same drive as we do. AKS is a team made up of very talented and driven individuals all striving together to create an experience, not just a lesson. This year AKS has taken on two very capable female instructors thus changing the tone of lessons and creating a much more balanced team . DARREN MARSHALL - Owner and Retail ManagerDarren has taught kitesurfing since 2000 and started the school in Sydney in the sports infancy. Darren still teaches from time to time and is possibly the most well known instructor in Australia having been an IKO Examiner and Power kite trainer for the last 6 years teaching around 300 instructors worldwide and countless students in his own and other schools overseas. Darren now runs the retail side of the business and together with Ed drive the AKS name to improve every year. ED TEO - School Manager & IKO Examiner
Ed is a full time professional IKO kiteboarding Instructor and IKO Examiner (Instructor Trainer). Ed has been teaching kitesurfing for more than 5 years and has been a snowboard instructor prior to this. He has logged thousands of hours teaching with AKS alone and is the AKS School manager. Ed would without doubt, be one of the most skilled and experienced instructors in Australia. Together with Darren, Ed helps shape the direction of AKS and keeps the school running smoothly and improving every year. Ed has worked with AKS since 2004/5 season and has been instrumental in it's success as a school. MARTY - InstructorMarty is our most senior instructor in terms of age and brings with him wisdom, a fantastic friendly approach and dedication to the students he teaches. Marty's easy going nature and eye for small details making him an excellent instructor. In his spare time marty is at University studying Forensic Pathology which is obviously where his eye for detail, and methodical approach will shine. This is MArty's second year with AKS and we are proud to have him on the team. JUDITH - Instructor Judith comes to us this year as an experienced IKO instructor after having completed two seasons teaching in Holland in a very busy school which she also helped manage. Her bright bubbly personality and ability to teach in multiple languages make her a very valuable addition to our team. Judith also displays patience and enthusiasm for teaching which keeps students learning and enjoying their lesson from beginning to end. LORNA - Instructor Lorna has also come from overseas (UK) and is an excellent communicator and skilled instructor. Already she is developing great relations with our customers who request her for additional lessons and applaud her for her patience and relaxed and friendly approach. Lorna's friendly nature and great teaching skills are a perfect fit into AKS's theme of having fun whilst learning and creating a great experience. |

AKS FREE Lessons Australian Kiteboarding School have always been keen to make getting into the sport cheaper and easier. The AKS FREE Lessons plan is an option which offers the choice to purchase gear at retail prices and not a dollar more, from our shop up front before you start lessons. This will entitle you to a FREE Riders Package of lessons. The Riders package is three, one-on-one, 2hr lessons with one of our IKO qualified instructors. Thats a saving of up to $720 straight up!
This option will not be for everyone of course. Some people will not be happy to lay down the money without having a go at least. For these people, we will allow you to enter the free lessons program after your first paid lesson but you will receive the next two lessons for FREE. This is still a great deal and you'll be saving $480 from the cost of the gear and still get free one-on-one lessons with our highly trained staff. You get a brand new top quality kite, a new quality board, new harness and board bag and then three one-on-one IKO standard, FREE Lessons. What's the catch? There isn't really a catch other than the program is restricted to the better quality gear. In other words you can't buy the cheapest thing off the rack, which isn't really an issue because almost no one chooses the cheapest models anyway. Who says "You can't get something for nothing these days?" Tell 'em to talk to us! Talk to us at the beach or on the phone about the gear available through the FREE Lesson program |

Hey there everyone, For those who have known us over the last couple of years, you would have noted that every year we, build, add, improve and change our business so that it continues reflect the type of experience you are looking for. As the gear changes every season, peoples requirements change and so our business and more specifically in this case, our website is constantly evolving to provide an improved experience and always in tune with the latest developments in kites and boards. Latest news is that we have cloned, stripped and rebuilt a whole new website from the original shell, no there's nothing wrong with the old one, in fact the old one will have a spring clean also eventually, but that aside, the new website will be more retail customer focused. The existing and new sites will reflect the two faces of AKS - Lessons/school, and sales/retail. We have kept the same theme for familiarity (Don't want to freak out any of our existing loyal customers!) . AKS Online Screen Grab By seperating our two sides of the business on the web, we hope to be able to provide a more useful and focused experience for people searching for information on specific products as well as keen pricing and free delivery. The new website "www.aksonline.com.au " will carry a greater range of our products in our online catalogue than the school shop ever did, as well as have more indepth info, reviews, latest products, featured products and other pages of interest without having all of the school and progression stuff. We have made it easier by turning "off" the old school "shop page" and have replaced it with a link to the new website so that you seemlessly just appear on the new "AKS Online Webshop". Snazzy eh? You can check it out right now if you like. It isn't finished as we have so much content to add to it, but there is a lot of new 2010 kites and boards added already so you have some info to read up on. Reviews will be added as we get time to use and play with the new stuff. We'd really appreciate your feedback on what we're doing. It will help us shape the new site to reflect what you want and in turn will serve you better. We hope you like it! Most sincerely, Darren and The AKS Team |

AKS is stoked to announce we recently became appointed as the Western Australian Dealer of Core Kites. German brand Core Kites are a young brand with a rapidly growing reputation for excellent kites and are now keen to take their place in the Australian market. The parent company Carved create some of the finest custom boards in Europe and are now putting their skilled hands to producing amazing kites. Previous kite, the CORE COMBAT was designed purely as a wave riding kite and was well accepted on it's tough build and quality of construction not to mention some of the design considerations such as the unique fully spinning chicken loop and line untwisting bar setup with mini fifth line. 2009 Core Combat GT The CORE COMBAT GT is the latest addition to their line up and is designed to be the best all rounder on the market. With a more Delta shape plan form the GT is super easy to relaunch from a crashed position and practically relaunches itself by moving to the launch position unassisted by the rider. The profile of the kite gives excellent low wind power and yet is still manageable and fun in high winds giving this kite an amazing wind range. The bridle is said to be designed so that the kite cannot flip through itself and tangle when rolling on the water. The COMBAT GT is a 4 line SLE delta shaped kite with mini fifth line for safety. The kite is stable and stall resistant making it perfect for wave rippers along with unhooked riders throwing down insane freestyle. Big air kiters will appreciate the kites ability to soar and provide amazing hangtime. Core ESP Bar The GT is very fast in turning speed and moves quickly for it's particular sizes. The canopy is very stable even in gusty winds and depower is progressive and comfortable. The bar pressure is medium giving good feedback on the kites position and bar pressure can be adjusted by changing bridle attach positions on the kite. The power of the GT is evident through the height and awesome hangtime of the kite when powered. The bar is a very clean setup with the 5th line running through the centre of the chicken loop keeping it free from tangling when spinning the bar. The adjustable bar can be changed in moments from small (45cm) to wide (57cm) making the one bar size suitable for all sizes of kite from 5m to 15m. All lines are 24m in length. For more information see www.core-kites.com. We also have pricing and availability here on our shop page Sizes : 5m, 7m, 9m, 10.5m, 12m, 13.5m and 15m 2009 Core Combat |
