Foot Out
Foot Out
Simple foot out tricks are fun and easy to do and can be added to transitions and/or normal jumps. The way to style out a foot out is through variation and tweaking, there are an unbelievable number of variations of tweaked foot outs for you to explore. Start off by pulling a huge jump and once airborne, move your front hand to the centre of the bar and keep good pressure to remain sheet in in for maximum hangtime. Let go of the bar with your back hand and start off with a simple tail grab. It's best to go for the grab on the way up in the jump as you will waste too much hangtime if you wait for the apex to grab. Once you grab the tail of the board with your back hand just slide your back foot out and pull the tail of the board in under your bum, extending the released foot either in front of the board or behind it (in front looks better but is more difficult). Bone it out! Just as you hit the apex of the jump, it is a good time to start to put your foot back into the footstrap. You will need to push your board away with your backhand to give yourself plenty of room for the "foot in". Wedge your foot into the strap and then prepare for the landing as you would any normal jump. The photo shows a particularly tweaked board placed behind the head foot out. Nice and technical!
