Core 2009 Combat GT

Image
Core 2009 Combat GT
The Core Combat GT is an all rounder kite built and designed by German company Carved.  The Combat GT is built bomber tough for taking a pounding in the waves, has plenty of power for it's size and turns very fast!  The relaunch is excellent and immediate and like most good kites nowadays, is very responsive.  Bar pressure is light to moderate and can be tuned to your own tastes by adjusting the line attach positions on the kite which takes only moments.

The Core Combat GT is a kite well suited to all levels of rider, displaying the stability, durability, safety and easy relaunch required by beginners but still having the power, speed, boost and hangtime required by advanced riders.  Being an allrounder makes it again fit most riders who do a bit of freestyle, a bit of waves and a bit of good old school big air.

The Build quality of the kite is evident in every stitch and in all of the high quality fabrics used in it's construction.  right down to the simple and effective safety system of the "clean" bar.

2009 Core ESP bar (Schematic)
The ESP Bar (Ejector Safety Performance) is is patented by Core and is a revoloutionin design by running a short "mini 5th line" through the centre of the chicken loop stem allowing complete freedom of movement and completely eliminating the chance of tangling the 5th line around the trim line or chicken loop.

The Bar also has a feature of removing twists in the trim line by simply pulling and sheeting in on the bar.  This automatically untwists the centre lines without the need to even touch the bar or lines.  Truly a revolutionary idea!

2009 North Rebel
North Rebel 2009 - The 2009 Rebel is bashing down the barriers of freeriding and surfing!   The clean simple 5-line design, delivers smooth, reactive steering, extreme resistance to back stalling when oversheeted and the most direct bar feedback yet.  Norths unique quad strut configuration produces a light weigh kite with quick turning and a snappy feel which makes the bigger sizes feel more crisp and lively than ever.   The Quad strut also creates a very clean centre profile that delivers constant predictable power for freeriding comfort.

The Rebel is heavily reinforced with Dacron to take some severe thrashings in the surf and come out in one piece.  The combination of decreased weight and a rounder arch helps prevent the Rebel from falling when the lines go slack while surfing making it easier to recover from steering errors.  One pump inflation for added simplicity.

The Rebel is available in 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14m.

2009 North Vegas
North Vegas 2009 - For 2009 North have completely reworked the Vegas to cover a wider range of conditions and rider styles than ever before!  A slightly lower aspect ratio and wider wing tips means very constant pull, extremely tight kiteloops and improved low end grunt to please the C-Kite lover in you.  The 09 Vegas features North's 3 in one concept: Three different settings that allow you to choose your desired feel for freeride and new school at it's highest possible performance level.  With a quick switch of the line connection point, the 09 Vegas offers the following three setups:

5th Line Freeride and Freestyle settings: Plenty of de-power and the classic Vegas feel you've come to expect.  This setting offers the most versatility and is ideal for free/surf riding, jumping and unhooking.

5th Line New School:  Dedicated new school feel, little to no de-power, extremely steady when unhooked and less sensitive to bar input for loaded power moves.  All the safety and relaunch of the 5th Element.

4 Line new school: Dedicated 4 line new school/competition setting.  Little to no depower and less sensitive to steering for loaded power tricks.  4-Line conversion kit available.  The Vegas is available in 5, 7, 9, 10, 12 and 14m.

2009 North EVO
North EVO 2009 - North introduces an EVOlution in free ride kiteboarding!  The EVO can be ridden on 4 or 5 lines and bridges the gap perfectly between Rebel and Vegas, uniting free ride and new school in one kite.  The Evo's delta shape offers great sheet-and-go riding, excellent wind range and high de-power.  The roundish shape helps the Evo turn quickly and predictably while the new bridle geometry stabilizes the arc for a soft consistent bar feel and extreme back stall resistance.

The 4-line mode boasts an innovative new safety system and bar feel perfect for those who prefer soft easy handling.  In 5-line mode the 5th element additionally stabilizes the arc, providing very direct bar feel for new school riding and the ultimate 5th line safety system.  Auto relaunch means you can go for it and never have to worry about relaunching your kite...... just take your hands off the bar and let the kite do the work for you!

The Evo is built tough to take some serious thrashings and the new connection between strut and leading edge easily withstands the hig loads of the delta shape.

Will be Available in 7, 9, 10, 12 & 14m.

2008 North Rhino - The North Rhino has always been synonymous with extreme power and big jumps. The 2009 Rhino is no exception. Designed for jumping, racing and getting out in the lightest wind the '09 Rhino has the biggest low-end, best hang-time and best upwind speed of any kite in the North range. Less extreme sweep and a slightly flatter profile in the center and tips contribute to better high-wind stability, less drag in overpowered conditions and smooth, responsive turning. Improved lift makes it easy to get big lofty jumps that are vertical and drag-free. The simplified Attack Control Bridle permits substantial changes in angle of attack (power/de-power) without any undesirable twists in kite geometry which results in a surprisingly crisp and responsive bar feel.
Additionally, the AC bridle allows you to fly the Rhino on 5 lines for maximum safety or 4 lines without losing any performance. Although de-power is not as instantaneous when the safety is engaged in 4 line mode, the AC bridle does allow the Rhino to flip onto it's back and de-power much like a 5th element. This is more than the answer to the Cabrinha IDS System! In order to keep the Rhino as light as possible, more light rip-stop has been utilized in the canopy as well as our tested and well-proven Snakeskin along the trailing edge.

The Rhino can be ridden on 4 or 5 lines. Due to the improved attack control bridle the kite can be made pressure-less even in the 4 line setup. Complete depower in no time is attained only by the 5th element!

From pumping Western Australia to PKRA competition in Chile and down to one-foot onshore beach breaks, these boards are designed to be pushed as hard as possible in all conditions. The concept is quite simple; The overall look and feel of a bigger semi-gun, scaled down to around 6‘ for kiting. The result is a board that offers excellent grip and encourages you to go as fast as possible into turns and carves and give you more confidence in pushing the next turn. These boards excel in good conditions where speed and control is key, but still maintain enough direct response and snappiness to push your limits in smaller surf. FREESTYLE FISH

- Epic Sessions in crappy Waves
- Easy to ride and jibe
- Strapped or unstrapped
- Custom Epoxy Wood Sandwich
- Sky Hooks
- Future Fin System

The Freestyle Fish concept is only a year old, yet it has been one of the most talked board in our range. What started as a concept project last year is now a category of it’s own in 2009. This has only encouraged us to continue pushing and developing the FSF for 2009.
This year we’ve used the knowledge and experience of surf shaper Martin Littlewood to give a more “surfy” twist to this concept without losing the ease of use that made the Freestyle Fish so popular in the past.
We’ve expanded the range to a bigger version to please the bigger riders and light wind freaks.

The result is two boards that will make the most fun of medium and small surf, light wind or even flat water freestyling.

Feel free to have a blast in conditions that you used to overlook; Onshore mush, wind swell… the freestyle fish will challenge you to have the most fun. You will still dream of being in Hawaii everyday, but it will ease the pain!

Both boards can be ridden with or without straps and all the accessories have been improved to achieve maximum comfort and performance.
A perfect complement to your quiver bag!

2009 Airush DNA
The 2009 Airush DNA SLE - The secret to the DNA's success is it's hybrid design, which offers optimised relaunch, depower and safety characteristics.  The real innovation though, is the absolut simplicity and unbelievable performance that makes the DNA perfect for either the first time buyer or the advanced rider looking for ultimate ease of use.

For 2009 Airush have reduced bar pressure on the larger sizes through refinement of bridle and canopy geometry.  In addition, the relaunch has been improved through an increase in canopy curve.  Due to it's primary use being in schools with entry level rider and wave specialists alike, the DNA features significant frame and general reinforcement.  The three strut configuration has also made the DNA a leader in simplicity and performance.

The bar is a simple 4-line bar with below the bar trim cleat.  Easy to adjust 25m lines which can be separated to become either 15m or 10m for schools or waves.  The bar comes standard with a stopper to prevent bar from sliding all the way out and to fix power.

Available in sizes: 2, 4, 6, 9 & 15sqm

Image
2009 Airush Flow FT
The 2009 Airush Flow FT The key ideology of the Flow FT is to pursue the all round highest performance levels, whilst reducing complexity for the rider.  The 2009 Flow FT introduces variable canopy curve.  This unique concept optimizes the centre area of the canopy making it more efficient than traditional kites.  This translates into a low centre of effort which increases depower whilst reducing bar pressure and bar throw.  The shape maintains the vertical component in the wingtip to enhance directional steering.  Through research into improving the stiffness to diameter ratio of the leading edge, Airush developed an Aramid compoosite sandwich construction featured in the wingtip area.  This feature creates more direct steering due to a wingtip / Leading edge structure that is 50% stiffer than a standard wingtip.  This enabled Airush to remove the cross bridle which enhances the steering further.

The Airush Flow FT is available in 5m, 7, 8.5, 10, 12, 14 and 16sqm.

Image
2008 Airush Vapor II
The 2008 Airush Vapor II was developed with a focus on refining and improving all areas of the hugely popular Airush Vapor.  The concept of the Vapor II is to develop a kite that maintains the steering characteristic of a high performance C-Kite with a new level of extended wind range and static depower traditionally only found in bridled kites.

The Vapor II is a flat 5 configuration featuring an advanced 5th line system that supports the leading edge of the kite. This enables enhanced safety, depower and overall performance. Excellent for all level of riding from dedicated wave riding to dedicated freestyle.   The 5th line can be adjusted from a fluid fast forward steering kite to a stable, pivotal steering configuration.  This is especially useful in very gusty conditions or less than confident riders.

The Vapor II is available in 5m, 7, 8.5, 10, 12, 14, and 16 sqm.

Airush 2009 Generator
The 2009 Airush Generator   The Generator was developed to be supremely functional with the highest performance possible.  Through ongoing demand from the Airush Pro team, Airush have continued to refine the dedicated C-kite.  The characteristics that define the Generator are the immediate yet smoothpower delivery and lightning fast yet predicatable turning, making it perfect for wave riding and performance freestyle.

For 2009 Airush  have introduced two new sizings in the 13.5 and 15.5, where advances in efficiency reduced the requirements for larger sizes over 16m.   The new 5th Line system features constant canopy support and simple release of the 5th line in critical situations.

Available in Sizes 5.5m, 7.5, 9.5, 11.5, 13.5 and 15.5sqm.

Mountainboards PDF Print E-mail

Using a power kite on land can be the biggest buzz since kitesurfing and tends to be a little cheaper and more easily achieved than for kitesurfing.

Land kiting can be experienced in a number of different flavours;-

Mountain boarding is the use of large rough terrain skateboard like boards with rubber pneumatic tyres to allow riding on a variety of surfaces.  Mountain boarding is so closely related to kite surfing that learning one will help immensely with the other.

Kite Buggying is the riding of three wheeled buggys whilst being towed around by powerful kites.  Buggys can handle a wide variety of conditions and can reach speeds of around 100 km/hr.  Buggying can also be quite three dimensional with the adding of a seat belt to keep the rider in the seat whilst boodting huge jumps in the buggy.

Snow kiting is using a power kite to tow you around on either snow skis or a snowboard.  This doesn't need a mountain and flat fields of snow suddenly become epic playgrounds.   Big air and crazy tricks similar if not same as kitesurfing are the norm in snow kiting and is probably the fastest growth area in power kiting at the moment

Ozone Instinct Light XC
The Light XC has come of age in 2009. No longer can it be viewed as just a school or beginners kite, this new generation is truly the perfect crossover kite for all levels of rider.

Progressive power delivery, sharper handling and better all-round performance means that from school to wave or even unhooked the Light XC packs the perfect punch to progress safely and stress free.

  • No longer one pump for simplicity when changing bladders. Often in the early stages of kiting the kite can take a hammering and also in the waves. For this reason we have have taken the one pump off the light this year which makes it more robust.
  • Increased bar pressure for a better feel of the kite which makes it more intuitive to fly through the wind range.´
  • Two handling options- tractor (slower with more bar pressure to have time for the beginner to react) and hot rod (faster lighter bar pressure if you are used to kiting; reacts quicker for wave riding)
  • Modified profile increased camber for more grunt and bar pressure.
  • Tube Size- increased to accommodate 4 lines and assist with relaunch due to better flotation.
  • Modified Plan Form- smoother leading edge curve, to help it roll up on its tip to come off the water quicker.
  • Optimized Strut Placement- the outer strut has been moved towards the root for better sail control and to reduce trailing edge flutter- also helps the tip flex for better handling.
  • Tube and Top Surface Attachment- Millimeter precise optimization of both the tube size and top surface panels gives us the cleanest leading edge in the business. This enables the air to accelerate quickly over the smooth surfaces enhancing performance across the range.

Image
2009 Ozone Instinct Sport +
The Ozone Instinct Sport +

The Sport+ bridges the gap between flat kites and the classic C-shape kites offering a more “grunty” feel whilst having heaps of de-power and amazing water re-launch characteristics.

Unhooked riding is made simple due to the direct handling and easy to find pop. Hooked in, the kite gives you that blast off feeling as you bury the edge of your board and hang on as it rockets you skyward. A true Free Ride kite for the progressive rider.

  • More grunt- more feedback in bar- better for freestyle, the rider can feel where the kite is through the bar.
  • Optimized handling-for kite looping (unhooked) for continuous power on landings-postive pull on full bar angles
  • -Increased bar pressure for a better feel of the kite which makes it more intuitive to fly throughout the wind range
  • -Two handling options- tractor (slower with more bar pressure to have time for the beginner to react) and hot rod (faster, lighter bar pressure if you are used to kiting; reacts quicker for wave riding).
  • Modified profile for more performance and smoother handling
  • Tube Size- increased to accommodate 4 lines and assist with relaunch due to better flotation
  • Modified Plan Form- smoother leading edge curve, to help it roll up on its tip to come off the water quicker
  • Optimized Strut placement- 2nd strut has been moved one panel towards the root resulting in increased sail control making the kite more rigid better for freestyle riding
  • Tube and Top Surface Attachment- Millimeter precise optimization of both the tube size and top surface panels gives us the cleanest leading edge in the business. This enables the air to accelerate quickly over the smooth surfaces enhancing performance across the range

2009 Ozone Instinct Edge RX
The Ozone Instinct Edge RX

The Edge RX is the top of the line when it comes to performance; if you like to go fast and boost massive classic style airs this kite is all about you.

The Edge RX’s high aspect ratio and thin section helps it slice through the air allowing for outstanding upwind performance and speed. Smooth and progressive feel in the bar with direct precise handling adds up to the ultimate ride for anyone performance driven.

  • Modified profile- high performance profile resulting in a more powerful faster kite, higher jumps with floaty decent.
  • Handling - direct and smooth.
  • Increased bar pressure for a better feel which makes it more intuitive to fly through the wind range.
  • Tube Size- increased to accommodate 4 lines and assist with relaunch due to better flotation.
  • Modified Plan Form- smoother leading edge curve, to help it roll up on its tip to come off the water quicker.
  • Tube and Top Surface Attachment- Millimeter precise optimization of both the tube size and top surface panels gives us the cleanest leading edge in the business. This enables the air to accelerate quickly over the smooth surfaces enhancing performance across the range.

2008 Airush Ride Board
2008 Airush Ride Board
The Airush "Ride" board is our basic school board.  At only 142cm long and around 47cm wide with a generous scalloped concave in the bottom, it is both easy to use, rides well and will plane in light winds and low speeds.  This makes it particulary applicable to students as a stable platform to stand on and also a great low wind board for all riders regardless of ability level.

Initially when you are developing the skills to get up on the board whilst flying the kite at the same time, we find we get the best results with a larger board than what you would normally ride with.  By choosing to use the most appropriate learning equipment, you can be guaranteed that you have the best possible chance of making your first water start on the board a success.  Once you gain the skills of basic balance and 'edging' against the wind, we can move you onto another board if required.

2009 Airush Hammer

The 2009 Airush Hammer.   The Hammer was developed from a traditional twin tip with the goal of radically enhancing wave riding capabilities without losing ease of use.  While originally conceived to be a dedicated wave riding twin tip, The Hammer also proved to be a huge stand out in very choppy conditions.

The Secret to the Hammers performance lies in the combination of the mid section surf rail with unique ABS tips, spiral V bottom, and a unique outline that offers more stability on bottom turnsand more snap off the top.  The same features give the Hammer a supremely soft ride in chop.

The board is available in 144 x 42 and 138 x 39 for lighter riders.

2009 Airush Converse
The 2009 Airush Converse.  Available in 6'4", 6'0" and 5'6" there is a size to suit every rider whether it be for light wind wave riding or power blasting on the 5'6", there's a board for you.  The Converse is in it's fourth year and has become a very strong board through never ending experimentation with different lay-ups of glass and wood laminates.  The board looks and rides a lot like a surfboard but with the added strength of being kite specific.

The Thruster fin setup utilizes the popular FCS fin system for a variety of fin types and ease of replacement whilst offering a customizeable ride.  The nose has been strengthened with a T-stringer and the deck area has been beefed up with wood and PVC sandwich laminates.  The board is very light and drives hard thru a bottom turn and maintains speed on the wave face allowing the rider to snap vertically and ride effortlessly away.

This is the board for the hard core wave shredder.  The board is a wave riding weapon for use in surf of all sizes and in a variety of wind directions.  No surfer should be without this board in their quiver.  The 6'4 and 6'0" can be paddle surfed by waxing the deck and removing the footstraps, giving this board a variety of uses.  The board can be ridden unstrapped also for maximum trimming and style.
